What I’d pay for this book: $20
To sum it up: In an alternative future Japan, a young girl is sent on an impossible mission by the Shogun to capture a thunder tiger.
I love this book so much. One of my new favorites.
This is not just another average dystopian novel. It’s so good that I really don’t want to give too much away. I will say that the main character manages to find the supposedly extinct thunder tiger, and then proceeds to become a total badass (excuse the language) because she can communicate with the thunder tiger. Telepathically. The thunder tiger is a fantastic character in his own right, and their conversations and camaraderie become the best part of the book. The world building is fantastic, very rich and detailed, and the story is just so unique that I kept wanting to know more. This book has tons of action, drama, and a little romance and humor to balance it all out.
Bottomline: If you like The Hunger Games, fantasy, or dystopian novels at all, don’t miss this book. And be prepared to immediately buy the second in the series (Kinslayer) because you just can’t wait for more. I did.
I got this book as an ebook from LA Library with only ~1 week wait.
